Hello, I'm Zarek
I discovered my passion for film when I was just ten years old, experimenting with my father’s iPod Nano camera. My friends and I would create mini-movies, and I’d edit them on iMovie, completely captivated by the process of bringing our ideas to life. As I watched more movies, I started paying closer attention to every detail—the storylines, the visuals, and the emotions they evoked—becoming fascinated with how filmmakers crafted such magic.
In high school, I took my first formal steps into filmmaking, learning the basics through film classes. It was there that my curiosity for cinematography and storytelling grew into a full-fledged passion.
It wasn’t until college, however, that I truly fell in love with video editing. Studying Film & Video at the Columbus College of Art & Design, I explored the transformative power of post-production—the art of piecing together raw footage into compelling narratives. Graduating at the top of my program was an incredible milestone, but the real education came when I started working professionally.
Over the past five years, working for a production company has been a game-changer. It pushed my skills to new heights, teaching me how to combine creativity and efficiency to deliver polished, impactful videos. Editing became more than just a technical skill—it became my craft, my art, and my voice in storytelling.
"Life should be lived on the edge of life. You have to exercise rebellion: to refuse to tape yourself to rules, to refuse your own success, to refuse to repeat yourself, to see every day, every year, every idea as a true challenge - and then you are going to live your life on a tightrope.
